The rise in fatal pedestrian accidents often stems from factors such as distracted driving, increased vehicle speeds, and a lack of proper crosswalks or signage in high-traffic areas. Local authorities emphasize the importance of education and community initiatives to promote safe crossing practices and vigilant driving, especially in residential neighborhoods where pedestrians are more likely to be present. A wrongful death claim arises when a person dies due to the negligence or intentional actions of another party.

In pedestrian accidents, this may involve a driver who was distracted, or failing to yield. Typically, immediate family members, such as spouses, children, or parents, have the right to file a wrongful death claim. In some cases, other relatives may also be eligible, depending on state laws. Damages may include funeral expenses, medical bills, lost wages, loss of companionship, and emotional distress. Each case is unique, and the specific circumstances will influence the potential compensation.
