Richland, PA (August 9, 2024) – A fatal crash occurred on Thursday in Richland, resulting in the death of a 76-year-old Butler woman. The incident, reported by the Northern Regional Police Department, took place around 5:20 p.m. on RTE 8 at the intersection with Applewood Dr.
According to Police Chief John Sicilia, Patricia Everetts of Butler was driving southbound on RTE 8 when she stopped to make a left turn onto Applewood Dr. A pickup truck behind her failed to notice the stop and rear-ended her vehicle. This caused Ms. Everetts’ car to be pushed into the northbound lane, where it was struck head-on by an oncoming vehicle.
Emergency services, including firefighters, were dispatched to the scene to extricate the vehicles and manage traffic. Ms. Everetts was transported to a local hospital but was pronounced dead upon arrival. The drivers of the other two vehicles involved sustained minor injuries.
