Bernville, PA (January 3, 2025) – A fatal car crash occurred early Friday morning on the 5900 block of State Route 183, just south of Bernville. The crash, which occurred at approximately 5:00 a.m., involved a head-on collision between a pickup truck and a car. The accident left one child dead and two others injured.  

According to Trooper Ethan Brownback of the Pennsylvania State Police, the driver of the car, a 27-year-old woman from Reading, was transported to Reading Hospital with injuries. Tragically, her two-year-old daughter succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital. Emergency responders from Bernville EMS arrived at the scene and quickly transported the injured individuals for treatment.  

Meanwhile, the pickup truck, driven by a 55-year-old man from Auburn, caught fire after the collision. Firefighters from the Bernville Fire Department were able to extract the driver from the wreckage, and he was later transported to the hospital with injuries. Authorities have stated that the pickup truck driver is under investigation for suspicion of DUI, although no further details have been provided, and the investigation is ongoing.  

Traffic was affected in the area for several hours as authorities worked to clear the wreckage, and law enforcement officers maintained control of the scene. The cause of the crash is still under investigation, and police are urging anyone with information to come forward.
