Greenfield Twp, PA (January 4, 2025) – A fatal SUV crash occurred on Saturday afternoon involving a PennDOT snow plow on Rte 89 in Greenfield Twp, Erie County. The collision tragically claimed the life of one individual and left another with minor injuries.  

The accident unfolded at approximately 2:39 p.m. on Rte 89, south of Townline Rd. According to Pennsylvania State Police, a Jeep SUV heading northbound collided with a snow plow traveling southbound after blowing snow from a nearby field obscured visibility. The plow truck’s 19-year-old driver attempted to brake but could not avoid the crash.  

The SUV driver, Thomas Dedinsky, 74, of Ripley, NY, was pronounced dead at the scene by first responders. A passenger in the SUV sustained minor injuries and was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital for treatment. Emergency crews, including firefighters, worked to extricate individuals from the vehicles and secure the site.  

The snow plow driver was uninjured in the incident. Rte 89 was closed between Townline Rd and Rich Hill Rd for several hours as authorities managed traffic, conducted an investigation, and cleared the wreckage.
