Pittsburgh, PA (May 1, 2024) – Following an accident on Monday morning, a Slippery Rock motorcyclist was transported by medical helicopter to a hospital in the Pittsburgh region.
According to Slippery Rock Police Chief Terry Fedokovitz, the accident happened around 11:15 a.m. when a 27-year-old man was involved in a crash with a southbound vehicle while riding his motorcycle along Franklin Street close to South Main Street.
The victim was thrown off the motorcycle and airlifted to a medical facility in the Pittsburgh area. An ambulance was called to a neighboring hospital in order to transport another collision victim, though neither of the victim’s current conditions is known. An investigation proceeds in the interim.
Our thoughts are extended to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their complete recovery at this time.
Motorcycle Crashes in Pennsylvania
Motorcyclists who are involved in collisions often sustain serious, permanent injuries as well as significant financial losses. First, motorcyclists are not as well protected when riding as occupants of passenger vehicles since there are no doors to function as barriers, seatbelts, or other restraints. Unfortunately, all too many cyclists forego helmets. As a result, in an accident, the motorcyclist’s body is often in direct contact with the road or other vehicles, and their injuries are frequently severe.
That said, injured riders in Pennsylvania may be able to file a claim for damages against the responsible party, such as the at-fault motorist.
