Franklin Co, PA (April 28, 2025) – A deadly three-vehicle crash occurred on the morning of April 28 in Southampton Township, Franklin County. The accident took place around 10:00 a.m. on Route 696/Olde Scotland Road near its intersection with Pineville Road.
According to Pennsylvania State Police, a Ford traveling along Rte 696 struck the rear of a Mercury sedan. The impact caused the Mercury to veer into the oncoming lane and collide with a Volvo. The Volvo then lost control and left the roadway, eventually coming to a stop in a nearby field.
The occupants of the Mercury, identified as Allen Pensinger and Alberta Pensinger, both 82 years old and residents of Shippensburg, were pronounced dead at the scene by emergency medical personnel. First responders, including local fire crews, assisted in extricating the victims from the wreckage and clearing the roadway. State troopers managed the scene, redirected traffic, and launched an investigation into the incident.
The driver of the Ford reportedly refused transportation to the hospital, while the driver of the Volvo was uninjured. No charges have been filed at this time, and the investigation remains ongoing.
Our deepest condolences to the families affected by this tragic event. May they find comfort and strength during this difficult time.
