Truck Accidents in Pennsylvania
Pennsylvania roadways see thousands of commercial vehicle accidents each year, many of which result in serious injuries or fatalities. Trucks, including dump trucks, pose a significant risk in collisions due to their size and weight. When these vehicles collide with smaller passenger cars, the impact can be devastating.
Common causes of dump truck-related accidents include:
- Limited Visibility for Truck Drivers: Large commercial trucks have significant blind spots. If a smaller vehicle enters these areas, the truck driver may not see it, increasing the risk of a collision.
- Sudden Stops or Traffic Issues: Heavy trucks take longer to slow down or stop. If a vehicle suddenly changes lanes or brakes in front of them, avoiding an accident may be difficult.
- Mechanical or Brake Failures: Trucks require regular maintenance, and failure to properly inspect brakes, tires, or steering components can lead to dangerous situations on the road.
- Medical Emergencies Behind the Wheel: In some cases, a driver may experience a medical issue while operating a vehicle, leading to a loss of control and a serious accident.
