Pittsburgh, PA (December 26, 2024) – An injury pedestrian crash occurred early Christmas Eve morning, just after midnight, when a black Dodge Ram 1500 struck a pedestrian on I-279 near the McKnight Rd exit in the area of Northview Heights and Perry North. According to Pennsylvania State Police, the man was attempting to push his disabled Ford Focus off the roadway after it became stranded in the traffic lanes.

Authorities reported that another vehicle had pulled over to assist the driver of the Ford Focus when the Dodge Ram struck the man and fled the scene. First responders arrived promptly, and emergency medical personnel transported the injured pedestrian to the hospital, though the severity of his injuries remains unclear as police continue to investigate the incident.

The Pennsylvania State Police, alongside local authorities, managed the situation, securing the area and controlling traffic. The crash site was closed for several hours as police reconstructed the scene. Firefighters were on hand to assist in the extrication of the vehicles while tow trucks removed the wreckage. The investigation is ongoing, and authorities have not yet released details on whether the driver of the Dodge Ram will face charges.

Our thoughts are with the family and friends of the victim during this difficult time.
