Philadelphia, PA (June 8, 2024) – According to local authorities, a collision on I-76 in Philadelphia on Saturday morning resulted in the hospitalization of three individuals and the closure of the westbound side of the highway for several hours.

Per troopers with the Pennsylvania State Police, officers were dispatched to the area of the South Street exit around 3:30 a.m. to investigate a reported collision. Upon their arrival, officers discovered a gray SUV and a truck were involved in a crash on the highway.

Three people were hospitalized: a 34-year-old man sustained moderate injuries and is currently in stable condition, while a 24-year-old woman and a 25-year-old woman were both listed in “extremely critical condition” following the incident. The Philadelphia Office of Emergency Management announced that the highway reopened at approximately 11:30 a.m., but an investigation proceeded in the interim.
