Luzerne Co, PA (March 21, 2025) – A fatal hit-and-run occurred on Friday afternoon, March 21, in Luzerne County, resulting in the death of a 53-year-old man from Hartford, Connecticut. The incident took place at approximately 2:30 p.m. on the eastbound lanes of Interstate 80 near Conyngham in Butler Township.

According to state police, the victim was outside of his disabled vehicle when a commercial vehicle struck him. Following the collision, emergency services responded promptly, with ambulances transporting the injured victim to Geisinger Wyoming Valley Medical Center. Unfortunately, despite efforts to save him, he succumbed to his injuries at the hospital.

The impact of the crash caused a significant disruption on I-80, leading to the closure of part of the interstate for hours. Authorities worked diligently to manage the traffic and secure the scene.
