Laflin, PA (May 16, 2024) – Traffic in Luzerne County was majorly impacted by a serious accident that took place on Monday morning, May 13, and resulted in a handful of injuries, according to local authorities. Officials say the incident created a multi-mile backlog on Interstate 81 northbound near the Pittston exit.

The collision occurred on Monday morning around 6:45 a.m. on the Laflin highway, about 1.5 miles before the Pittston and Dupont exits. Per emergency dispatchers, a vehicle and a motorcycle were involved in the incident. EMTs assessed victims at the site, but it is unclear how many people were taken to the hospital. Witnesses with further information were asked to get in touch with Laflin Police Department investigators; the investigation is active and ongoing in the interim.
