Fatal Car Accidents in Dauphin County
Fatal car accidents in Harrisburg and Dauphin County have become a growing concern in recent years, mirroring a statewide increase in traffic fatalities across Pennsylvania. In 2023, the Pennsylvania Department of Transportation (PennDOT) reported over 1,000 traffic-related deaths, with rising numbers linked to speeding, impaired driving, and distractions. Harrisburg, with its high-traffic highways like U.S. Route 22/322 and Interstate 81, has seen a concerning rise in fatal crashes. In 2022, Dauphin County recorded over 50 fatal accidents, highlighting the ongoing risk as the area’s population and traffic volume continue to grow.
