Exeter Township, PA (June 14, 2024) – Emergency officials closed a stretch of Route 422 in Exeter Township on Wednesday afternoon due to a motor vehicle accident that claimed the life of a Schuylkill County woman.

It happened just after 2:00 p.m. on 422, near Daniel Boone Road. Authorities closed the westbound lanes between Daniel Boone Road and Route 345. Exeter Police said the accident is under investigation, but it appears as though a tractor-trailer rear-ended a sedan that was occupied by two people. One woman was pronounced dead at Reading Hospital, while two other victims were not seriously injured. However, an investigation is still ongoing in the interim, and no other details were released.

We offer our sincere condolences to the deceased victim’s loved ones. Our thoughts go out to the injured victims and their families. We hope for their full recovery at this time.
