Erie, PA (May 8, 2024) – After a major collision between a motorcycle and a vehicle on East 38th Street in Erie on Tuesday night, at least two people are dead.
According to Erie Police Department officers and the Erie County Coroner’s Office, the motorcyclist was pronounced dead at the scene, and the driver of the Subaru involved in the accident, a 46-year-old man whose name has not yet been released, passed away at UPMC Hamot early on Wednesday morning.
According to Erie County 911 and the police, the collision occurred on Tuesday at around 6:45 p.m. on East 38th Street and Marion Street, next to the Tops Grocery. The Subaru’s driver and a passenger were also transported from the scene to UPMC Hamot. According to the Coroner’s Office, the driver was declared deceased at the hospital at 1:00 a.m. on Wednesday. On Wednesday morning, details on the passenger’s condition were unavailable. No further details were supplied, but as part of the continuing investigation, police said they are now looking into security footage from the area.
