Clearfield County, PA (May 20, 2024) – A fatal accident reported on Friday claimed one person’s life. Just before 1:30 p.m. on May 17, the police and firefighters were called to the scene of a crash that occurred on Rockton Mountain Highway in Union Township.

According to official reports, a 2013 Ford Edge and a 2006 Pontiac Grand Prix collided on the highway. Preliminary investigations determined that the driver of the Pontiac was traveling on the roadway when they struck a deer. The impact of the crash caused the driver to lose control of their vehicle and enter into the opposite lane of travel, where it collided with the Ford. One person involved in the accident, a 56-year-old man, was fatally injured and pronounced deceased at the scene. Injured victims were transported by EMS to Penn Highlands Dubois Hospital for emergency care. At this time, the incident is under investigation.
