
Brecknock Township, PA (May 30, 2024) – According to local authorities, a serious accident closed a portion of Route 222 near the border of Berks County and Lancaster County on Tuesday, May 28. It happened just after 1:00 p.m. in the southbound lanes near the Adamstown exit.
Authorities say a car was involved in a collision with a tractor-trailer, and the impact pushed the vehicle into the median, where it rolled over several times. A 21-year-old woman in the vehicle was partially ejected. She was taken to Reading Hospital in unknown condition.
Police say the tractor-trailer didn’t stop following the collision and continued south into Lancaster County. Brecknock Township Police state they are considering this a hit-and-run crash. Two witnesses who stayed on the scene say it was a white tractor-trailer, possibly with some blue on it. However, no further details have been released, and an investigation is still open.
